Cheers to Pizza!

Is pizza one of your go-to pre/post-run meals? It can be perfect after a hard day out on the trails and can certainly be fun to make together with friends.

We always try to find a great pizza option whenever we travel. Last year in Texas, at NOLS wilderness First aid certification course, Stephanie Howe treated the Threshold team to some homemade pizza. A refreshing beverage and warm slice of pie in a beautiful place… the best.

Liza and Eliot Howard love making pizza with their family. They recently shared that love by building a pizza oven for their local community garden in San Antonio, TX. Liza’s Italian roots make her an excellent resource on all things pizza and her son Asa is also becoming quite the pizza chef.

In celebration of National Pizza Day, we wanted to share a few of our favorite places with you from some of our travels. Go give your favorite pizza spot some love!

If you find yourself in Atlanta, GA for a race or trip don’t miss Antico Pizza. This place fills up fast, but is worth the line and the wait. The portions are generous, so take a friend with you or prepare to have some amazing leftovers. We love the Margherita D.O.P with Calabrian Peppers. littleitalia.com

Ready for some time training at altitude? Or headed to the Grand Canyon? You must take the time to visit Pizzicletta in Flagstaff, AZ. The atmosphere is fun and awesome and the food is top-notch. Start with the marinated olives and then really you can’t go wrong with any of their pies. They offer vegan options that are equally delicious. pizzicletta.com

Find yourself in Asheville, NC—hopefully before your trip with us—and explore the diverse menu offered by All Souls Pizza. It is another restaurant that knocks it out of the park! If you want to keep the flavors of the south, we recommend the country ham, eggs, garlic and mozzarella pizza. allsoulspizza.com

When visiting the San Francisco Bay area, the amazing food choices are endless. We find ourselves going back to Tony Tutto Pizza. Their homemade recipes are the best, so go work hard on the beautiful trails in Marin County and then share a slice. We love the Tri-Color Cauliflower and Kale. Cheers to great pizza!
